The NCIS team works together to investigate all crimes involving Navy and Marine Corps officers. The team consists of Special Agent Gibbs, Special Agent DiNozzo, Ms. Sciuto, Dr. Mallard, Special Agent McGee, Mossad Agent David (who replaced Special Agent Todd), and NCIS Director Vance (who rplaced NCIS Director Shepard). The show centers around Gibbs, DiNozzo, McGee, and David, working to solve the cases, under the direction of Gibbs. Sciuto is the team's forensic scientist and Mallard is their medical examiner. Gibbs is the team's best detective. DiNozzo has the street smarts that come from being a former homicide detective, and McGee is the computer genius.
The team operates separately from the military chain of command and often goes to great lengths to find the truth, including leaving the country in search of answers. They're an eclectic group that somehow manages to forget stereotypes and work well together. They have an extreme sense of loyalty for one another and value their friendships.
