Culture Shock: personal disorientation when experiencing an unfamiliar way of life. Agent David experiences culture shock when she firsts starts working for NCIS because she is new to the U.S. and had just come from Israel, where she was an agent for the Israeli Mossad.

Subculture: cultural patterns that set apart some segment of society's population. The team has their own way of thinking and acting due to their jobs. Their way of thinking and their actions are geared toward solving murders and gives the team their own subculture.

Technology: knowledge people use to make a way of life in their surroundings. Sciuto makes the most extensive use of technology in her lab work. She uses the available technology for running prints, DNA, and other evidence.


Language: A system of symbols that allows people to communicate with one another. Ziva speaks seven different languges, including English, Hebrew, Spanish, Arabic, Turkish, French, and German.

Values: Culturally defined standards that people use to decide what is desirable, good, and beautiful and that serve as broad guidelines for social living. Using typical American values, the characters of NCIS could be described as good, desirable, and beautiful to some people of society.

Beliefs: Specific ideas that people hold to be true. The agents involved in NCIS all have very moral beliefs, or else they would not have the jobs that they do.
